Koi Tattoo Art Tag Inspiriation

Image
Hi! A really quick and easy project that packs a lot of punch! The finished project can be used as a gift tag on a present, an accent on a page or an addition on a greeting card. This project features the  Koi Tattoo  set and is not exactly a tutorial, but just a little project for inspiration. ;-) I hope you like it. After stamping out and coloring my Koi, I started out using a plain craft tag, some no-name blue ink (to set off the orange Koi) and my brayer. I rolled the brayer in the ink on all sides to make sure I had an even application and layed down the color. I did this twice until my tag was completely covered. I cut out my Koi and placed it on the tag and stamped 'harmony". Next I used the small wave stamps from the set to create a textrued background. After gluing my koi fish down I slightly distressed the edges of the tag and added some green ribbon. You could add a little glitter to this, or perhaps some glossy accents for a wet look. Voila...

Welcome Back! Can you believe it? I found a stamp in my collection that I haven't used before! I can't believe I hadn't used it before - I absolutely adore Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps ! So, of course I through some ink on there and got to stampin' away! This is the first Thanksgiving card of the season! Original design blank inside. I think this card works even without a sentiment. Have you started on your thanksgiving cards or layouts yet?

Paint Splatter!

Image
The lovely Ms September, Lizzie, at Bombshell Stamps challenged us to come up with a paint splatter design. I don't currently have any paint in my collection of art supplies (accept crackle) so I used Adirondack Alcohol Inks to create a paint splatter effect. I love the way the ink mixed and ran! Let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Smashbook/Junk Journal/Art Journal

Image
Hi Bloggers, With the popularity of smash books I thought I'd share this video in which the videographer explains the difference between smash booking, junk journaling and art journaling. I just have an art journal from when I was a teenager, personally butI haven't jumped on the smashbook train yet.  Anyways, take a peek at this video. I thought it was done very well! I'd never even heard of junk journaling before!

Yay! New Stamps!

Ah, got some stamp love in the mail earlier this week! Also placed a rather large order for copic reinkers, mounting cushion and replacement nibs for my copics. Maybe its me, but if you use copic markers, what colors do you run out of the most? With me it seems to be the flesh and earthy tones, mostly, and my red. I use a lot of red.

A Very Happy Birthday - Bombshell Stamps September Sketch Challenge

Image
Every month Kathi at Bombshell Stamps designs a fresh new sketch. They're always great and its so much fun to play along!! Check out the Bombshell's Forum and Blog. This month's sketch was perfect to showcase Rose and my new Banner Set. I chose to go with lime green, a grey and white and green polka dotted paper and a grey and green gingham print paper, paired with a tan wood-like printed paper and a sparkly grey card stock that I purchase from Paper Zone before they closed (*tear*). I love using Rose on projects because I think she's a really versatile image. Whatever colors you pair her with she looks great and it gives her a different feel. I enjoyed adding depth to this card through layering of color, adding gloss to Rose's lips and popping her image off of the sketch pattern. I enjoy the cohesiveness of this card. Leave a comment below and let me know what you think! :-)
