Mark's Finest Papers - Red and Green #137

Image
Today's challenge was to make a Christmas card using red and green. This is what I came up with. I hope you like. :) I'm usually a Grinch. I don't care for making holiday cards that much, but this floral image from the Mark's Finest Papers Amaryllis Definition set spoke to me and seemed to work well with this single layer card. You can layer it! I've colored it here with my Copic Markers to add depth and interest. Cheers!

No Red or Green - Mark's Finest Papers #136

Image
This week's challenge at Speedy Fox & Friends was to make a traditional holiday card not using red or green. So I chose blue and gold and used the ivy from the Ivy and Blossoms set. Guess I'm just a Scrooge because holiday cards are probably the least favorite type of cards for me to make. But this was fun. I really like how the gold embossing shows up on the Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain. And I got to use the rest of my pretty blue and gold fine paper! What do you think?

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 135 - Recipe

Image
Here's this week challenge from Speedy Fox and Friends. Recipe cards are so difficult for me! This one was: use 1 paper, two colors and three embellishments. Easy, you think. Yikes, when I sat down to play, my mind went blank. Zip, zilch. Nothin'. But, I think it turned out pretty well! I have another recipe card blog hop on Wednesday November 28th, so if you're interested in playing along you should sign up at the bombshell forum: bombshellstamps.com Thanks for stopping by! Cheers

On the Fly with Mark's Finest Papers

Image
Hi Everyone! I want to share a quick card that I made this evening using the On the Fly set from Mark's Finest Papers. (Side note, I've now made two separate and distinctive cards from this one set. Its so versatile!!) Originally I forgot that I already made a card for a challenge called Pop It Up (which is coming up later this week) and I needed to make sure that I met my commitment, so I made this card thinking it would be featured for that post. Lucky me! I had saved the day. Funny how that happens. All that worry for nothing, and now I have a great little masculine outdoors-men card to give to all my fishing friends. Now...If I only knew people who fished. I particularly love the depth and texture created with this card. I used Glossy Accents all over the fishy, making sure to just work with a little bit at a time so it didn't smear together. I used a dotting motion on the paper for the scales and a pulling motion for the fins of the fish. I thi...

Speedy Fox Challenge #133 - Add a Fence - with Mark's Fine Papers

Image
Hello and thanks for joining me again! Today's project is for Speedy Fox and Friends Design Team at Mark's Finest Papers. The challenge was #133 - Add a Fence. Boy, was this card a challenge!! After rummaging around in my collection (seriously, I don't think I own a SINGLE fence item!) I finally gave up and downloaded a digital image, which worked out better than I could have imagined! I colored the image and set it aside. I matched a copic color to a color in the polka dot backgrounds and colored the rick rack ribbon with the copic marker. (As Copics are alcohol-based markers, this acts as a stain.) I then layered a brown on the polka dot paper, added the rick rack and the fence. I stamped out the small Amaryllis from the Amaryllis Definition set and colored it with Copics. I added pop dots to pop the flower off of the page. I then stamped the sentiment from the same set that reads "You make the day sparkle." Well, what do you think? Now's your chanc...
