Mark's Finest Papers - You've got Style!

Image
I just love this feminine set from Mark's Finest Papers. It is the You've Got Style set and it is SO much fun. I was just having a play and not really concerned with following a sketch, but it turned out pretty cute anyways. I background stamped with the shoes offered in this set and colored them with my copic sketch markers. I stamped the boot and a handbag and popped them off with pop dots and stuck them on. A pretty simple card, but pretty cute! ;) I hope you like it. Cheers!

Monday the 10th: New in my Shop

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I hope your weekend was nice and relaxing. New in my shop today is a sweet little winter-themed card that was posted Saturday. I decided not to go with a sentiment for this card. I think having a sentiment on cards has a tendency to classify cards too much. At any rate, this card is clean and simple. I used a sheet of acetate to give it a cool glossy effect. This is my first time using acetate on a card that is not a shaker card. The image is a digital stamp from Anita Be Stampin. By chance, I can't seem to find Anita Be Stampin on facebook, does anybody have their link? Whenever I click the F on their website it just takes me to my own fb site. Weird. I'm going to be going into detail about how I made this card later in the week. Be sure to check back about that! Don't forget, I'm having a fall sale in the shop right now! Use coupon code "Fallsale2011" to save some money and get cute greetings. :) Cheers, Xo, Rachael

News and Tips

Image
Hello and Good Morning All! All Friday postings are going to be news, tips and tricks from now on. First up, news! I am now a part of Paper Craft Planet! This is a large community that I have only heard of before now. I am flabbergasted at the amount of information on this site! Find me here: http://www.papercraftplanet.com/profile/RachaelBrackett I’m also new to Splitcoast Stampers as well. Last night I finally had the opportunity to sit down and do a little stamping for myself. I stamped some great images from Kraftin’ Kimmie and colored them in with my copics. This is probably my favorite technique! Here’s a picture of how they turned out. I should have the time this evening and weekend to finish up some cards for these cute little images. That’s all the news I have for today my lovelies. Don't forget to follow this blog, follow me on flickr , twitter , and facebook  for specials and discounts only available to my friends! :-)   Cheers! Xo Rachae...

New In My Shop

Image
Helloooo Out There in Bloggerland! Thanks for swinging by! I hope your weekend was fantastic and you got some great arts and crafts done and some good family time in. Over the weekend I didn't get much crafting done, but I *did* stock up on supplies! My Paper Zone *finally* started stocking copic markers, so I picked up these beauties. I also picked up some raffia (which I haven't used before on cards, but I'm totally stoked to try!) some flowers (which I haven't found anywhere else but my trusty PZ) some rosettes, which looked fun, and a couple of stamps.  Also, the copics I ordered online came in the mail, which I was totally stoked about because it seems like I was waiting forever. With those I was able to do some trial and error stamping too!   Other than that, I have some new designs that are waiting to be photographed. I expect that those items will debut this week, so keep checking in for updates! Foillow me on twitter , flickr  and facebook  f...

New in my Studio

Image
Happy Holidays! New in my studio this week is Valentines Day cards. I produced several over the last couple of days, two of which are in my shop already. The third I am still working on. It's going to be so cute! Really, I can't wait to see how this one turns out. I LOVE to make Valentines Day cards (which is kind of ironic because I really detest the holiday!) and I love this new stamp set (Raychel) I got from Kraftin' Kimmie, so we'll see! Maybe my little hedgie will sneak in for an appearance as well! Also, I've ordered some new colors for my copic markers that have come. Here they are! And here's the whole collection thus far! I seem to be gathering more and more flesh/E tones. Finding that perfect skin tone has proven to be a rather challenging task! I also made a couple tag sets last night. They turned out well, but some need more work. Here's what I have so far.  More interesting additions soon to be added to the shop, so make sure to ...

Hooray for Copic Markers!

Image
Hi All, Well for everyone who *knows* how great Copic Markers are, you can go ahead and say the dreaded "I told you so!" cuz, yes, after I bought my first Copic Markers and used them recently, I fell in love!!! They are truly *wonderful*. A bit on the expensive side, however. But I suppose, when you're purchasing pro items, you pay for the quality.  My art shop doesn't offer sets of these Copic Markers (Sketch) so instead, I just purchased individually. Below are the colors I picked up. And here was my first simple project. I'm still trying to figure out how they work. I've got the monocolor blending down (see the "Dad" banner, the red star behind it and the green behind that) but I'm still challenged with how to blend two close colors together. Any suggestions?

Copic Markers

Hi All, In the last few weeks I have been noticing more and more people using a wonderful little thing called Copic Markers. For those of you who don't know, Copic Markers are pretty much the top-of-the-line markers for the art world. They are alcohol-based, refillable and blendable. They won't tear up the paper you work with, and you can shade and blend without leaving streaks a normal marker would leave. Well, over the last couple of weeks I have been debating if, as a crafter, these are really a necessity for me, personally. I already have a pentel set and a case of colored pencils that I can and do use quite frequently. Do I really need to spend the money on *another* marker set? After debating and comparison shopping, I think I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably end up purchasing some copic markers. Perhaps not in a set (they are sold either by the set or individually) but I think that they would be beneficial to any artist to have because of their bl...
