Basic Cardmaking Kit et al. :-)

Aloha Everyone!

I haven't been very regular with the blogging lately because I've been entertaining a house guest and we've been so busy! So here's a short update.

I noticed that there are some basic things that one should have for papercrafting, particularly attending classes and such. So, I've listed a basic cardmaker's kit here for your reference!

What should I have in my basic cardmaking kit?

Scissors

paper trimmer with extra blade

liquid adhesive

tape runner and an extra pack

ink

ruler

foam dots

glue dots

tweezers

piercer (I just use a pin!)

sandpaper

journaling pens

an x-acto knife with extra blades

pencil

Also, the Puyallup Scrapbook Expo is JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!! I'm unreasonablly EXCITED!
I'm really excited for a couple reasons. I've never been to a scrapbook expo - makeup trade show, yes, but scrapbook expo, no! lol. I'm super excited to see what the different exhibitors will have, and how many vendors there will be! The fair grounds are quite large, so I'm kind of hoping I'll step in and have my mind blown - ha! But most of all I'm excited to get inspired by different classes and techniques that I can apply to my own designs!!!!!!

Anyways, that's it for now. I'd better get going. I'm only working a half day today so I can run off with my boyfriend and do city things. We're catching the ball game tonight - Mariners vs. Padres! Hope we win!

How To Effectively Sell: Part III - FABG!

Hello All, Let me preface this post by saying that the FABG selling technique is not my original idea. When I was in commission sales I read a selling book that saved my life (and my paycheck) by Harry J. Friedman called "No Thanks, I'm Just Looking". While not the most well written book, Friedman does a great job of explaining how his years in the industry have helped him to form his professional retail sales techniques and turn shoppers into buyers. I recommend you pick this book up! It has saved my bacon many many times!! So, What *is* FABG? FABG stands for Feature, Advantage, Benefit, Grabber. Any item can be FABG'ed. Features - features are parts of the piece. Either a part of the piece or a characteristic of the piece. Artist's Collective #3 - Maeve Brennan

I first heard about Maeve after reading Kate Bolick's  Spinster    at the beginning of 2016. (At first I hated this book, but then it grew on me as Kate's story continued, but I digress.) Brennan is one of Kate's Five Awakeners and consequently, one of the people in my Artist Collective. I think that Maeve lived the life that she wanted to live and I think because of that she is a strong female role model. Suffice it to say, Maeve Brennan was thought-provoking at the least. I've included Maeve in my Artist Collective series because she inspires me to challenge myself artistically. She wrote in one way or another her entire life, even toward the end when she literally had nothing left.
