Slider Card Tutorial

Image
Break out your favorite Bombshell and let's get started with a great style of movable card - slider cards! You will need the following: 1.  Pop dots - preferably the round ones, but if you do not have those, you can always round off the square ones. 2.  Two pennies 3.  Stampin' Up Word Window Punch (or the like) OR a craft knife/xacto 4.  Your favorite Bombshell image. I am using Bombshell's  Hawaiian Girl  set. First, select the papers that you would like to use and stamp out your images. Stamp, color and cut out the images that you would like to use. Now create the base of your card. Now, on the base of your card, figure out how far you want your slider to go, lengthwise. On a scratch piece of paper, punch out a template if you like, as I did here. Trace and punch the actual paper you would like to use. Distress if you like. I'm using Tim Holtz's Distress Ink in Antique Linen. Add pop d...

Tutorial: Crackle Paint "Check Out the Booty" Magnet Tin

Image
Tools Tin with clear top (I am using the  Grundtal Container  from Ikea.) paper acrylic paint of your choice in color crackle medium (I'm using Deco Art 1 Step Crackle Medium) applicator or brush to spread the paints distress color in either a matching or contrasting color to your acrylic paint scissors rubber stamps (I'm using the Bombshell Stamps Vintage Mermaid Rubber Stamp set  Mermaid Treasure ) pen permanent ink *Note - my tin has a magnet on the back so I can stick it to the fridge. If you want to use a scrap tin that you have, such as an Altoids tin and you would like to add a magnet sheet to the back, magnet sheets can be purchased at your local hardware store. Usually they are adhesive backed or you can hot glue them to the back of the tin. There are also variations on this project such as laying down paint and letting it dry, sanding the peaks of the tin, then laying down a second coat of paint and wiping the second layer of paint away so that ...

Technique: Bargello

Image
Welcome! Its amazing to me how many techniques you can use from one sort of craft and transpose the same technique with another sort of craft. Today's technique you might have seen in needlepoint crafts. The exciting part of Bargello is that you can re-create the look with papers!  Above: an example of Bargello. So to recreate this technique with paper, here's what you can do: 1. Select your complimentary papers. Stripes and geometric patterns look pretty and cool. I used shades of blue. 2. Cut your papers into varying widths of long strips. 3. Organize your paper strips into a fashion that pleases you, running lengthwise and glue down. Make sure there isn't any gap-osis! :) You can either tape the strips from the back or lay the strips directly onto a piece of tacky paper. 4. Cut the strips vertically. Now you can stagger the strips by moving some up and some down to create the cool effect! Tape the strips together on the back to permanently form the patte...

Decide where you want your spinner to be. 2.  Assemble the card the way you want it. Now it's time for the fun part! 3.  Take your Stampin' Up! Word Window Punch and a sheet of paper. This will be the slot for the spinning bit of the card. About a 1/2 inch in from the edge of the paper, ...

Zig Zag Card Tutorial

Image
Hi All! I wanted to share with you a fun and exciting new way to create a card.  Let me first say that I did this tutorial with just a regular 80 lb. sheet of legal sized paper to make a mock-up first. You may want to do this, too, before you start to work with your favorite sheet of cardstock.  So - let's get started! You Will Need: 1.  8.5x14 piece of cardstock; 2.  a ruler; 3.  something to score with (I use scissors+my ruler) 4.  craft knife + self-healing mat or protected surface. 5.  pencil ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ To Do: 1. Cut down your 8.5x14 sheet of paper to 12x5.5. 2. Lengthwise, score at 2"; 4"; 8"; and 10". 3.  Now, along the first score line, measure 2" down from the top of the card. Mark with a dot.  Do the same on the 10" score line and, pressing LIGHTLY, connect the dots across lengthwise.  This is where you will cut. 4.  Now do the same, only measure 2" up from the bottom and do the same as you did befor...
